Lady Pioneers dominate, earn top seed for Region X Tournament

SPARTANBURG, SC.,  The Lady Pioneers dominated Clinton Junior College 79-57 on a night when their was a lot at stake. SMC (11-11) earned the overall number one seed and a spot in the championship game for next weekend's Region X Tournament.   The Lady Pioneers will play the winner of Denmark Tech and Clinton Junior College. 

Heather Chapman (Jackson, OH / Summerville High) , Americal Jenkins (Hilton Head, SC / Hilton Head High), and Jada Martin (Winnsboro, SC / Fairfield Central) each had double doubles on the night. Martin had 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Jenkins, scored 14 points and pulled down a game high 12 rebounds. Chapman continued her strong play with 21 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Shaniqua Brown (Greenville, SC / Hillcrest High) added eight points, Christian Thompson (Winnsboro, SC / Fairfield Central) scored seven and Aliyah Davis (Lancaster, SC / Lancaster High) added six. 

   

 

SMC controlled the game from the start, the Pioneers won each quarter (21-12,15-14,21-10,22-21). The Pioneers shot 15-24 from the free thow line and made 6 of 8 in the fourth quarter.

The ladies will host Chattanooga State CC Wednesday at 5:00pm in a non-region game.
