Women's Basketball wins Region X Championship

SPARTANBURG, SC., SMC Women's Basketball (13-12) defeated Denmark Tech 72-59 on Saturday afternoon in Bridges Arena to capture the 2015-16 Region 10 Championship. With the win, the Pioneers advance to the District J Championship on Saturday afternoon against Georgia Highlands College (24-9). The winner will advance to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament in Lubbock, Texas.

Heather Chapman (21 points) and Jada Martin (20 points) helped power the Pioneers to their first Region 10 Championship since 2011-2012. Americal Jenkins added 10 points and helped control the boards as the Pioneers played excellent defense for fourty minutes. 

Come out to Bridges Arena on Saturday afternoon (2:00pm) to watch the Lady Pioneers take on the Lady Chargers.
