Pioneers Win Season Opener

The Spartanburg Methodist women’s basketball team beat Lenior Community College in the first round of the Pizza Hut Classic at Louisburg College, 91-37. The game began hot for the Pioneers and then the team controlled the entire 40 minutes. The game started with a 26-4 first-quarter run. Jayla Hopkins lead the team with 19 points, including going 3-4 behind the 3 point line. Josie Earnhardt pitched in 12, while 15 Pioneers scored in the contest.

Coach Macy on the game, “I love the growth of this team each day. We have shown great improvement in each pre-season game leading up to this point. I believe the key will be the desire and growth to continue through February.”

Tomorrow the Pioneers will play the tournament host at 2pm at Louisburg College.
