Lady Pioneers Win Invitational Hoops Tournament

The Pioneers defeated host, Louisburg College, in overtime to win the Pizza Hut Classic Tournament. The final score was 109-106 in the thrilling overtime contest. 

Five Pioneers reached double digits with Josie Earnhardt leading the way with 30.  Takeria Legette’s 21 points included a three-point shot that forced overtime. 

Jayla Hopkins (20), Bri Milton (12) and Brittany Mack (11) all scored in double digits for SMC. 

Coach Macy commented, “What a fun game to be a part of today. The atmosphere was incredible and the kids showed such toughness. Our competitive index as a program continues to elevate. So very proud of everyone associated with our team.”

Next up for the Pioneers is another road game at Walters State on Tuesday.
