Lady Pioneer Capture Region 10 Title

The SMC Women's basketball team went on the road to capture the 2024 Region 10 Championship and earn the right to travel to New York next week to take on Monroe College in the Mid-Atlantic District Championship. Both teams battled in the nail-biting game to a one-point difference that saw the Pioneers win 57-56. Layla Wall led all scorers with 19, followed by Yasmine Cook with 11 and Jaidah Liebert with 9.

The following athletes were named to the All-Region team: Layla Wall, Destiny Middleton, Yasmine Cook and Grace Ikenegbu. Cook was also named Region 10 Player of the Year. 

The Lady Pioneers will be back in action next Saturday (3/16) at 12 Noon at Monroe College for the Mid-Atlantic District Tournament.
