Men's Pioneer Golf Wins, Herold and Hutto Take Individual Titles

PINEHURST, NC., Pioneer golf shined in region competition at Pinehurst this past weekend. The men's team remains unbeaten in Region 10 play and won the Sandhills Intercollegiate by nine shots by shooting a strong 296 in the second round of play. "On day one, the guys did not play to their potential. I think they knew what the potential of the team was, and they played beautifully the second round to run away with the event" said coach Kyle Owings. Zachary Herold won the event with rounds of 72 and 76. Sophomore Brady Trout started the spring off strong with a two day total of 149. Freshman Matthew Terry, Bryce Hailey, Josh Rhyne, Hunter Henson, and Bryce Miley all played significantly better in the second round to help secure the victory.

On the women's side, the Lady Pioneers finished second behind Sandhills CC, but Freshman Brooke Hutto carded rounds of 87-76=163 to win by four shots. 76 is the low score by any female for the Pioneers this year.
