Wrestling starts season 2-0

The Pioneer wrestling team traveled to Georgia Southern University to compete in a tri match against Marion Military Institute who is currently ranked in the top five of the NCWA along with Georgia Southern.

The Pioneers won bath matches defeating Marion Military Institute 24 to 19 and Georgia Southern 45 to 11 and start their season 2 and 0 for the first time in school history.

Going undefeated for the day: 125- Hector Contreras, 133- Ian Clevenger, 157- Josh Stephens, 174- DeAndre Johnson ( With two pins) 184- Alex Jones ( with one pin) and 285- John Allen Griswold ( without giving up a point).

Coach Sater stated,"I'm extremely pleased with the effort that our team showed in our season opener. We are an extremely young team starting ten freshmen but gained valuable experience competing against two solid teams. DeAndre Johnson stepped up with two huge pins earning the team twelve points for the day. John Allen Griswold looked polished considering it has been close to half a decade since his last competitive match, dominating both opponents while not allowing a single point to be scored against him. I am also very proud with the effort shown by Ian Clevenger. Coming off of a rough senior season at Boiling Springs High School where he failed to qualify for the state tournament, he was recently voted captain by his teammates and started his college career with two hard fought victories."
