Wrestling falls in tight match on the road 29-24

CLEVELAND, GA., Spartanburg Methodist College Wrestling team droped their road match Tuesday evening to Truett McConnell College 29-24. Picking up big wins for the Pioneers were 133lber Maurice Williams and 184lber Nick Siniard.

Both Williams (Orlando, FL/Edgewater High) and Siniard (Brevard, NC/Brevard High) picked up falls for SMC in the first period after dominating their opponent.

With a string of forfeits from both sides the match came down to 285lbs where Onassis Williams (Emerald, SC/Emerald High dropped his match to Dustin Branom by fall bringing the final score to 29-24.

"We are dealing with a lot minor injuries and guys getting to wrestling weight right now" says Coach Oliver, "Just the normal internal battles that every program deal with. We are looking forward to getting some of our guys down to weight and healthy so that we can compete to our fullest."
