Daquon Wilson finishes with silver medal in 2016 NJCAA Wrestling National Championship

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA., Sophomore Daquon Wilson took home a silver medal in the NJCAA Wrestling National Championship on Saturday.

Wilson pinned the numer two seed of the 165-pound weight class, Davon Jackson of Muskegon (Mich.) Community College in 30 seconds on Friday. Wilson also pinned his next opponent, too, and that match only lasted 1:30 of the first period. So the sophomore from Charleston (Fort Dorchester High), a transfer from Allen University in Columbia, was in the national junior college semifinals after only two minutes of wrestling action.

Wilson got a decision in the semi-final match on Saturday morning against Zach Revier of Ridgewater College in Willmar, Minn and a spot in the National Championship match against No. 1 seed Dajour Reece of North Idaho, who had been in the final the previous year. Wilson dropped a 7-5 decision to Reece in one of the best matches of the tournament.

Congrats to Daquon and Head Wrestling Coach Matt Oliver
