Spartanburg Methodist Battles in Season Opener
SMC Wrestling opened up its season with a tri meet against the #11 ranked NAIA team in the country Life University and NCAA DII opponent Coker College. SMC dropped both matches in what was a hard fought night for the Pioneers. Brothers Tramone Jenkins and Tramon Jenkins from Beaufort, SC both went undefeated last night. "We are a young team, and are currently not seeing our full lineup. We have some guys sitting out that will be impact wrestlers for us later on in the season. We wrestled tough in both matches, but we need to learn how to open up more and not be so cautious during the match. It was a great first two matches for our freshman and sophomore to show them where they are at and what they need to work on." Results from the match are below.
SMC travels up to the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburgs, KY this Saturday November 4 for an open tournament. Action starts at 9am and will go on all day. This tournament will see some of the top NAIA teams in the southeast.
