Tramon Jenkins Earns All-America Status at the NJCAA Tournament

133lber Tramon Jenkins (Beaufort, SC) placed 8th in his bracket at the NJCAA National Wrestling Championships. En route to his 8th place finish, Tramon who has been unranked all year dropped his first round match to the number 5 ranked kid in the country 9-4. In the consolation bracket Tramon pinned his next three opponents in the first period. Which included the number 4 ranked Highline wrestler, and the number 8 ranked Itasca wrestler. In Tramon's placement match for 8th place he dropped an action packed match that ended 19-16 against Jack Karstettar of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

 

The team, as a whole, finished in 20th place scoring 26.5 points. Out of the 7 wrestlers competing for SMC, 6 of them won matches which improved their overall team finish. 149lber Aaron Fountain made it all the way to the quarterfinals match, in which he lost yet another action packed match for the Pioneers losing to the sixth ranked wrestler in the country 13-11. 141lber Tramone Jenkins ended the day 3-2 pinning two of his opponents in the consolation bracket. Tramone and Aaron were one win away from locking in All-America status. Also scoring points for the Pioneers were 157lber Brandon Harris, 174lber Caleb Spears, and 197lber Evan Makupson.
