SMC Places 8 in Thunderwolves Open
Sanborn, NY – The Pioneers entered into the Thunderwolves Open this past Saturday where they saw 8 different junior college teams and 10 other teams from different divisions that included a few NCAA Division I wrestlers. SMC ended up with 4 total finalist, 3 Individual Champions and 8 total placements.
125lber Tramon Jenkins, 133lber Tramone Jenkins, 174lber Caleb Spears all came away with 1st place. Tramone had a great win over current 8th ranked NJCAA wrestler from Niagara, CJ Walz, by way of technical fall 22-5. Cooper Kaminsky continued his breakout weekend with a 2nd place finish, losing to #6 Hunter Harnish of Mercyhurst NE.
Also placing for the Pioneers were 141lber Loye Burkhead (5th), 149lber Chris Hudgens (4th), 165lber JD Harrelson (4th), and 184lber Camden Johnson wrestled into the semifinals before having to medically withdraw from the tournament finishing in 6th place.
