SMC Women's Soccer win 5-0 and improve to 9-1

SPARTANBURG, SC- The Lady Pioneer's Soccer Team won 5- 0 at home against USC-Salkahatchie Wednesday afternoon and improved to 9-1 overall.  Ciera Smith  (Columbia, SC) started the scoring  at the 25 minute mark assisted by Lexi Garcia (Greenville, SC). Smith also assisted Madison Salters goal at the 37th minute mark.  The Pioneers kept the 2-0 lead into halftime but .  came out of the half very strong scoring two goals in the first three minutes of the half.  The goals were scored by Kacee Merritt (Cayce, SC) and Sara Dorsett (Travelers Rest, SC).  Hope Smith (Woodruff, SC) assisted the first one and Kacee Merritt assisted the second one.  After playing the first half in goal Kayla Walker (Lexington, SC) scored at the 60 minute mark with an assist by Lexi Garcia ,her second assist of the game.  It was SMC's 5th shutout in a row.

Combining on the shutoutl were Kayla Walker and Karsyn Shehan (Boiling Springs, SC)

 

SMC returns to action on Saturday as they host Louisburg College at 1:00pm
