Lady Pioneers win in double overtime at Louisburg

LOUISBURG, NC.,  The Lady Pioneers won 3-2, at Louisburg College Sunday afternoon, scoring a golden goal in the second overtime with two minutes left on the clock. SMC improves to 7-7 overall and 7-3 in Region 10 play.

Louisburg opened the scoring at the 15 minute mark and kept the lead throughout the first half. Ten minutes into the second half the Pioneers equalized on a goal scored by Kayla McMillian (Spartanburg, SC). The goal was assisted by Cyarah Wilson (Summerville, SC). Louisburg went back on top scoring on a penalty kick at the 75th minute but SMC equalized with under five minutes left in the game. Lexi Garcia (Greenville, SC) finished a shot from 20 yards out on an assist from McMillian. In overtime Cyarah Wilson took the ball down the right side beating a defender and crossing the ball where Sara Dorsett (Travelers Rest, SC) hit a volley from ten yards out into the side netting for the win. 

SMC will return to action on Wednesday as they travel to USC Lancaster.
