Lady Pioneers dominate USC Sumter

The Fire Ants of USC Sumter traveled to SMC for a Region 10 matchup. The Pioneers dominated possession from the start. CJ Hawkins got SMC on the board in the 33rd minute on a beautiful shot from the right side of the penalty box. It looked like SMC was going to double score 2 minutes later but was called offside. Gwen Orr came up with a big save in the 37th minute to keep the lead. Hawkins made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute. SMC would keep the foot on the gas in the second half with another 24 shots on goal but the Sumter keeper would stand tall in goal and let in one more goal by a Caitlin Lagos header from a Krystal Martinez corner kick. The Fire Ants did not create any pressure in the second half. SMC moved to 5-3-1 and 1-0-0 in Region 10 play. They travel to USC Lancaster on Thursday September 29 for another Region 10 matchup.
