Lady Pioneers played tough against #5 Daytona State

The Lady Pioneers welcomed #5 Daytona State College to Nash Soccer Field on Thursday. SMC knew it was going to be a very big challenge playing a national powerhouse. The Pioneers had a game plan to stay composed and patient the slow down the attack of DSC. Gwen Orr stood tall in goal for the Pioneers with some outstanding saves in the first half. The half ended at 0-0. Daytona State made a few tactical changes to try to break down the Pioneers defense. DSC got on the board in the 58th minute. The Pioneers couldn’t hold Falcons at bay anymore. They would get 2 more goals in the 65th and 75th minute. Orr would make some more incredible saves in the second half to keep the score at 3-0. She ended the match with 18 saves. SMC moves their record to 3-0-1. The Pioneers open up Region 10 play on Tuesday September 12, when Southwest Virginia CC comes to SMC at 3:00pm.
