Volleyball Lost the Battle to Toccoa Falls

Toccoa Falls, GA – The Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College drove down to Toccoa, Georgia on Wednesday to battle it out against the ladies of Toccoa Falls College, dropping the match 1-3.

 

“We did a lot of things right that we have been working on, but we had a few too many errors to close out the match,” Zimmerman said. “We switched a lineup that worked well and the girls did a great job expanding their role. We are encouraged to get back in the gym and keep working.”

 

Pioneer sophomores Aeyane Mattress and Molly Mather led the team with top performances. Mattress led the team with 17 kills, Mather followed with 10 kills hitting a whopping .526, and Freshman Anna McKnight added another 9.

 

Setter Madison Nicholson tallied a career-high 32 assists and added 3 kills and 12 digs.

 

Defensively, libero Kameron Neese led the Pioneers with 17 digs, and Mattress and Abbey Darress combined for another 26 digs.

 

Set scores were 17-25, 21-25, 25-23, 24-26.

 

Due to Hurricane Dorian, the Pioneers will not be traveling to Cape Fear for a tri-match on Saturday. However, they will be hosting Bryant and Stratton at home Sunday, September 8th at 1:00 p.m.
