Women's Team finish solid at Royals Challenge

Royals Cross Country Challenge

The Men's and Women's cross country spent Friday Oct. 07 in Charlotte, NC at McAlpine Creek Park competing in the 2016 Royals Cross Country Challenge. They competed against 40 teams across the southeast region.

SMC men's team had a solid day with their performances. Logan Miller clocked in a 27:17 to lead the pioneers. Posting other solid times were; Kole Koterba - 27:27, Joel Mercaldo - 28:05, Josh Ladson - 28:44, and DAngelo Shannon - 28:56. Overall, SMC men's team finished 26th overall.

The women's team was full of personal best finishes. Italia Jones once again lead the way for the lady pioneers with a personal best 5k time of 19:21. She finished with a 79th overall finish. Ali Bennett grabbed her personal best 5k finish with a 19:53 time. Andrea Liddell secured her positon at 20:21 along with Jordyn Gilmore with 20:33. Haley Singletary got a 21:09 time and help secure a 13th overall team position. The lady pioneers hope to hold and move up in the NJCAA Div. 1 Top 25 ranking. They are currently ranked 18th nationally.
