Men and Women's Cross Country had a Successful Weekend in Boone, NC

Boone N.C. - SMC Pioneer Men and Women's team competed in the Covered Bridge Run Friday evening at State Farm Fields, Boone N.C.  Freshman Angelica Gonzalez lead the SMC Pioneer women's team with Shelby Hilt and Ashely Blanton rounding out the top three for the women's team.          

On the men's side, freshman Nigel Dos Santos paved the course for the men. Shawn Hamilton and Andrew Scruggs rounded out the top spots for the guys.

"Enjoyed the race and it was a great venue.  This race was about learning some tactical race experience and introducing our bodies to the race intensity.  The men’s team handled it well but a few of the women may have been a little quick in the initial part of the race.” says Head coach, Ken Roach.            

Looking ahead, the Pioneer Cross Country team will travel close by to the Converse Kickoff on Sept 6th at Milliken Park.
