Women's Basketball Shows Grit Against Spartanburg Methodist

Saturday afternoon, the Louisburg College women's basketball team faced off against the Spartanburg Methodist Pioneers in a thrilling game. Despite being the underdogs on paper, the Hurricanes showed grit, determination, and a never-say-die attitude that ultimately led them to a well-deserved 79-73 victory.

The game was a back-and-forth affair from the start, with both teams trading baskets and playing lockdown defense. Spartanburg Methodist took an early lead, but Louisburg College kept the pressure on and managed to tie the game up going into the second quarter.

In the second half, Louisburg College began to pull away thanks to the sharpshooting of Kandace Daniels, who finished the game with a game-high 25 points, five assists, and two steals. Trinity Smith also had a standout performance, scoring 13 points, dishing out three assists, and hitting a crucial 3 pointer in the fourth quarter that helped secure the win.

While Louisburg College's offense was firing on all cylinders, it was their defense that ultimately won them the game. They held Spartanburg Methodist to just 50.8% shooting from the field and forced them into 23 turnovers. Chloe Rush was a key player on defense, grabbing six rebounds and registering three steals.

With this win, Louisburg College improved their record to 12-11 on the season. While the road ahead will be challenging, the Lady Hurricanes have proven that they have what it takes to compete at the highest level and come out on top.

As the season winds down, Louisburg College's women's basketball team will look to build on this momentum. The Hurricanes will take on Richard Bland College, who is currently in first place in the Region X standings, on Wednesday night at 6pm in Roger Taylor Arena.
