SMC Softball Drops Pair to Milligan
Milligan, Tenn. – The Spartanburg Methodist College softball team dropped a twin bill to host Milligan, 3-0 and 5-2, on Sunday.
Spartanburg Methodist College (15-12) began the day with a 3-0 loss in the first game of the doubleheader. The Buffs held the Pioneers to just three hits—singles by Jacie Ross, Lydia Faulk, and Adriana Stump-Frias.
All three of Milligan's runs came in the first inning on three RBI doubles. SMC starting pitcher Bailey Kiser allowed just one more hit over the next five innings.
The nightcap saw Milligan score two runs apiece in the first and second innings on its way to a 5-2 win. The Pioneers plated their two runs in the sixth on a two-RBI single by Alex Stuckey. Carson McCowan recorded two hits, marking her fifth multi-hit game of the season. Stuckey's two-RBI game was her second of the season.
Out of the bullpen, LeAnn Curry pitched the final four innings, scattering six hits and striking out three.
Next, SMC will host the CAC Classic Tournament from March 28-29 at the Tyger River Park Sports Complex. On Friday, March 28, the Pioneers will face Florida National at 1 p.m. and Haskell at 3 p.m. On Saturday, March 29, SMC will take on Fisher (Mass.) at 11 a.m. and Carolina (N.C.) at 1 p.m.
