Coach Shelton takes over as the Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach after serving as an assistant in the 2022-2023 school year. Durin ghis year as an assistant SMC saw a lot of success winning both the men’s and women’s Region X Team Titles. Those teams would go on to finish 25^th and 24^th in the nation respectively. Shelton also spent a year at Liberty High School working with the sprints/mid distance crew. This team had 2 relays and 6 individual state qualifiers during Shelton’s tenure and has continued to grow as a program since.

Before his coaching career,  Shelton ran at Southern Wesleyan University where he graduated with 6 school records and numerous accolades. Shelton was the first male runner in school history to be named to an all-conference team and help blossom a program. In addition to school records, he qualified for 2 NCAA Regionals, and 1 NCAA Championships.
