Lady Pioneers Went 2-2 on the Weekend
SMC Softball Went 2-2 on the Weekend
Friday, Feb. 28 SMC faced Georgia Highlands College.
Game 1: Lost 6-8
Game 2: Lost 2-8
"Georgia Highlands has always been a pretty good program. We came out in game one and scored some runs, did really well at the beginning but we didn't continue to hit and score. We made some errors in the field that cost us runs as well. Game two was pretty close until the end. Caitlyn was pitching well, they just started to pock the ball in the gaps and found ways to score. Pitching wise, they are probably one of the better teams that we have faced. Their pitchers had good speed and decent movement, we just didn't adjust." -Coach Hill
Saturday, Feb. 29 SMC vs. Columbia College JV
Game 1: Won 14-0
Game 2: 10-2
"This is exactly what we needed to do after coming off of 2 losses. We came out and we jumped on the board early in game one and we kept it going in game two. Our pitchers did great, they hit spots and they executed like we needed. Madison Drawdy pitched a one-hitter with 2 walks in game 1 and Caitlyn Cox had 7 strikeouts and no walks in game 2. All around I think we came out strong and ready to take on the day!" -Coach Hill
