Spartanburg Methodist College men's basketball continued their winning ways with a 94-56 road win against Region 10 member Denmark Tech. With the win, the pioneers improved to 11-0 overall and 1-0 in region play.
SMC was led by a balanced attack offensively, as the Pioneers held a 48-14 halftime lead. Travis Black was just two rebounds and assists shy of a triple double as he scored 11 points, dished out 8 assists and pulled down 8 rebounds in only 20 minutes of play. Also in double figures for the Pioneers were Dajohn Rowland (11 points), Daquan Jeffries (11 points) and Jalen Nesbitt (10 points). Black and Marquice Sims had a team high 8 rebounds. For the game all 16 players scored for SMC.
"I was very pleased with our intensity on the defensive end to start the game," said head coach Jeff Brookman. "It was good to see all the guys step up and contribute."
The Pioneers next game will be another road contest as they travel to take Caldwell CC on Wednesday. SMC held on for a 61-56 home win a couple weeks ago against Caldwell.
