Bio

Coach AJ Gwyn joins the Pioneer Staff as he enters his 35th year of coaching basketball. Gwyn is a North Carolina native but spent most of his coaching career in Atlanta, GA. Gwyn was an All-State Basketball player in high school, and played JUCO basketball for Surry College in North Carolina. 

After graduating from college, Gwyn moved to Atlanta, GA. He went on to play three years of professional basketball in South America. When his playing career was over, Gwyn came back to the Atlanta area where he started his coaching career. Many of Coach Gwyn’s former players went on to play at the collegiate level as well as professionally. 

Gwyn has coached AAU Programs, high school teams, and was an assistant coach at the professional level in the USBL. He has also worked for NBA Teams in various capacities as well as coaching with an NBA G-League Team.
