Wrestling moves up to 9th in the latest NJCAA poll
SPARTANBURG, SC-For the first time in the Pioneer Wrestling programs history, the Spartanburg Methodist College Wrestling team has achieved a top 10 national ranking. The Pioneers are ranked 9th in the country and four of the ten starting Pioneer Wrestlers are ranked in the top 12 in their weight classes respectively. Hector Contreras (125) and Johnathon Contreras (133) are ranked 12th in their weight class while Seth Sirgo (149) is ranked 7th and DeAndre Johnson (157) is ranked 10th.
"The ranking couldn't have come at a better time as the SMC Wrestlers begin two-a-day practices to make up for lost time preparing to compete at the Eastern District Tournament next weekend in Springfield MA., and should act as a great motivator heading into the weekend." stated Head Wrestling Coach Rob Sater.
