Pioneers Run Fast Times in Columbia

Pioneers Run Fast Times in Columbia

The ladies started the morning of with a 6K venture around the golf center. Leading the Lady Neers was Mikayla Wilson running her best time for 6K, 28:10. Following, was freshman Kiley Meadows a personal best of her own, 29:03. “Kiley really surprised us by making a strong move at the two-mile mark and moving up the rest of the race!”

The twins, Alondra Velazquez and Mariela Velazquez finished strong together with PR times of 29:55 and 30:02. “Packing up really helped them out the last mile of the race. It will be exciting to see how they respond to tapering as we move forward to championship season!” Hali Gardner finished off the top 5 with a strong showing of her own, 32:53.

The men followed in the lady’s footsteps by continuing to run personal bests! Zander Allen led the Pioneers with a PR time of 28:56. “Zander popped a fast time on a fast course. Great to see him putting his race together as he prepares for the Region 10 Championship.”

Trey Armstrong, 30:37, and Bryce Strickland, 31:05, came in as the Pioneers #2 and #3. “Trey and Bryce both ran personal best times of their own. Tactically, Trey needs to better pace himself early while Bryce moved really well late in the race.” Trey Tynes, 32:25, finished with a best time of his own.

Overall, the Pioneers ran fast times on a fast course. “The expectation was to run fast times in Cola. Not only did we achieve that, but we are also starting to put our races together. We are continuing to set ourselves up for success!”

The Men’s team will be racing at the Upstate Invite this Saturday, 10/15, at Milliken Arboretum.

The Women’s team will have the weekend off to prepare for the Newberry Invitational on 10/22.
