Pioneers Continue to Roll with Queen City Invite
The women were lead by Freshman Sophia Outhous, who opened up her season in 20:54. This placed her 48th overall and she was followed closely by teammate Averi Vance. Averi finished in 68th place while running a season’s best by 24 seconds. The scoring 5 was rounded out by Bella Shield (23:40 lifetime best), Mariela Velzquez (23:54 lifetime best), and Alondra Velazquez (23:55 lifetime best). This was a birthday day personal best for the twins! The Pioneer women took 10th place.
On the men’s side, Luke Kochanowicz placed 78th overall with a time of 28:55. He took the race out strong and Coach Shelton said, “it was a learning lesson, he wanted to see how long he could hang with the pack and now we know how hard Luke can push.” Seth Mullen (30:56), Ryan Hunter (31:42), Jose Pacheco (31:47), and Devon Kimble (32:44) completed the scoring on the men’s side. The Pioneer Men placed 12th overall.
