Beach Sweeps the Weekend
Spartanburg, SC. The Spartanburg Methodist Women’s Beach Volleyball team hosted a double header weekend against Bob Jones University (DIII) and Sandhills (Region 10) over the weekend at the Upward Star Center to close out the regular season before heading into the Region 10 Championship weekend next week.
The First match up would be again Bob Jones where the Bruins last defeated the Pioneers 3-2. This meeting would have a very different outcome. The SMC Beach squad came into the match ready to roll! The first two pairs of 2’s Tayla Reini/Tori Barr and 4’s Callie Wzorek/Marrit Preusting would set the Pioneers for the match with solid wins in two sets. With the remaining pairs following along to close out a full sweep this time again Bob Jones

The Second matchup came against the Flyers of Sandhills. After waiting for the Bob Jones vs Sandhills match up to finish the Pioneers would step back on the court in full stride keeping all but one set to below 15 points.

DAY 2
Saturday Morning would start off with a different twist. The first game of the day would be delayed by 40 minutes for lighting . The Bruins and Flyers would start the day with a raining mist but would close out the match just as the skies clear and the sun beat down!!
The SMC Beach team would step on the court with no worries for the day as the heat rose from the sand the Pioneers would soak in ever point of the next two matches closing out the weekend fighting to win every set in every match!!

The Pioneers will travel to Pinehurst NC. for the first Region 10 Beach tournament hosted by Sandhill CC for a chance at a bid to the First NJCAA National Tournament April 20-22 at Hickory Point Beach in Tavares, FL.
