Beach Volleyball Tri-Match Dual Recap

Spartanburg, SC.  The Spartanburg Methodist Women’s Beach Volleyball Traveled to Due West, SC. For a midweek match up at Erskine College for a Tri-Match Dual against Erskine and Liberty Colleges 

The SMC Pioneer were hit with great courts awareness from both teams that felt too much for the Beach team to shake off on the misty afternoon.

Match 1

All five teams would battle for side-outs throughout the match. The biggest highlight of the match was the 2’s pair of Kendall Meinders / Aurora Aho. They would battle back and forth through four set points to finally point out the two point lead and win the first set. With both team around the court cheering their teams on the match would finally fall to Erskine 

Erskine vs SMC

2s: Alyssa Pagan/Emily Gilbert (Ersk) def. Kendall Meinders / Aurora Aho (SMC) 23-25, 21-18, 15-11
3s: Sam Bebber/Kylie McKean (Ersk) def. Tayla Reini / Tori Barr (SMC) 21-8, 21-16
4s: Allie Carter/Maisy Garner (Ersk) def. Marrit Preusting / Ashley Gagnon (SMC) 21-5, 21-14
5s: Laney Gaston/Taylor Atkinson (Ersk) def. Callie Wzorek / Racquel Talley (SMC) 21-9, 21-9

Match 2

The second match would not be so close as the SMC pioneers fell by a bigger deficit in each set. The best comeback of the pairs would come from Callie Wzorek / Racquel Talley as they dropped the first set with a devastating score of 3. That score ended up as only a mistake the that the pair was about to come back and from and win the second set 22-20. The Pioneer pair would drop the final set and close the match 15-6
