SMC Wrestling Rolls past Huntingdon College 25-19; Crown 3 champions at the Start City Open

Spartanburg Methodist wrestling team dueled Huntingdon College Friday night and came away with their first dual meet victory of the year winning 25-19. Spartanburg picked up bonus points at four different weight to win the meet. Marvin Galette (133), Christopher Moungle (149), Evan Makupson (184) and Alan Salgado (285) all picked up bonus points Friday night.

In the Star City Open that was held on Saturday the Pioneers ended the day with 3 Champions, Marvin Galette, Aaron Fountain, and Evan Makupson. SMC also managed to place 12 wrestlers total in 8 out of 10 weight classes.

Marvin Galette at 133lbs went 4-0 on the day only out scoring his opponents 31-5 with an addition of 1 match that ended by fall. Aaron Fountain 141lbs went 3-0 in the day highlighted by defeated Robert Cunningham of Ferrum College by fall in OT and Justin Zimmerman of Ferrum College by decision in the finals. Newcomer Evan Makupson also finished 4-0 on the day and was only scored on 2 times by his opponents. All three of these guy won their first collegiate wrestling tournament of their careers.

Also placing for the Pioneers were Will Spann 3^rd place at 125lbs, Toren Pollard 4^th place at 141lbs, Jacob Power 6^th place at 141lbs, Christopher Moungle 3^rd place at 149lbs, Lawson Capps 6^th place at 149lbs, Kieondre Wedderburn at 6^th place at 165lbs, Onassis Williams 5^th place at 197lbs, and Alan Salgado 4^th place at 285lbs.
