Women's Soccer Continue a Strong Season and Conference Play

The SMC women's soccer team hosted USC Salkehatchie in a Region 10 matchup on 10.13. The Pioneers came out hungry to start the game after a 10 day layoff from their last game. Kaylee Damsen got the Pioneers on the scoreboard first after a great give-and-go pass down the sideline by Myleigh Shaw and Alanna Hilton. SMC would continue with the offensive pressure through the first half with 29 shots. Three more goals would come from those shots. Harleigh Payne, Beyonce Williams, and Dare Regan would make the score 4-0 at halftime. Shiloh Worth, Shaw, Tiffani Rasmussen, and Genevieve Cox were credited with assists. The second half would be more of the same with Williams getting her second goal in the 54th minute from Damsen and Addison Crump. Damsen got her second goal of the game 2 minutes from Shaw and Williams. Crump would be awarded a Penalty Kick in the 62nd minute to make the score 7-0. Beyonce Williams would complete the hat trick in the 65th minute from another Myleigh Shaw assist. Dare Regan would finish up the scoring at 9-0 with her second of the day from a great passing combination through the midfield from Sydney Fletcher and Caitlin Lagos. The Pioneers move to 5-0 in Region 10 play and 9-2 overall. SMC will travel to Charleston Southern on 10.16 to play Polk State and finish up the season on 10.19 at USC Lancaster. The Region 10 tournament will be held at SMC on 10.29 and 10.30.
