Women's Cross Country Team volunteers at youth event

Roebuck, SC., Spartanburg Methodist Women's cross country team volunteered their time at a Youth Running League's (YRL) local XC series in Roebuck, SC.   The team had a great time at the event and was able to plug into local youth in the community.    Surprised by the turnout out at the running event, the team got to speak to several youth members with words of experience and encouragement. 

Over 100 youth runners were in attendance.  Some of the women's team help maintain the finish line and give ribbons and high fives as the youth runners crossed the finish line.  Others spread themselves across the 2k and 3k running course to ensure the youth stayed pointed in the right direction.  

The YRL is a local non profit that host local running events for youth from grade's 1-6.  The purpose of the league is to get youth active and engaged in all the positive benefits of running.  Head Coach Ken Roach stated "It is very important SMC's teams get out in the community, taking the opportunity to experience the importance of giving back to others is definitely something worth while."
