Men's Soccer Bounce Back after Defeat
The SMC Men's Soccer team improve to 2-2 on the season after a home victory over USC-Sumter. The Pioneers were very motivated after their away loss at GMC on Saturday. "We needed a response after the tough defeat at GMC in the previous game and the guys did just that" said Coach Hughes. Sophomores Donovan Branch and Baffour Dwamena connected on a cross to start off the scoring in the first half. Freshman Sebastian Duenas followed up that up by scoring his first goal of the season from a brilliant pass from Freshman Pedro "Eddie" Orrego. The Pioneers would go on to generate four more goals scored by Juan Diego Figueroa, David Negrin and Hykeem Martin. "Today I was proud how we responded and expect a more motivated group going forward in the season" said Coach Hughes. Both the SMC Men's and Women's Soccer teams play on Wednesday September 5 at 2pm and 4pm at SMC.
