What are you doing this summer?

The summer months are upon us and the competition for Spartanburg Methodist College athletics has nearly ended for the 2024-25 year. The summer months are a time for our student-athletes, coaches and administrators to not only spend time with their families, catch up with old friends but also to continue to do some extraordinary things. Each week, this summer we will feature a different person and how they are spending their summer. 

This week, we debut this feature with Matt Smith of the Spartanburg Methodist College baseball team, respectively. Smith just finished his junior season with the Pioneers on the diamond. He recorded a .329 batting average with six home runs, 36 RBI, 38 runs scored and 17 stolen bases in 45 games. In the classroom, he has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for the fall semester 2024 and spring semester 2025. This summer, he is doing an internship with the Hub City Spartanburgers as a member of the field maintenance crew.
