
SMC Loses Pair to Nationally-Ranked Teams
Laurinburg, N.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College beach volleyball team faced two of the NAIA's top teams at the SAU Beach Volleyball Complex on Friday.
SMC started the day with a 5-0 loss to William Carey (Miss.), a team receiving votes in the national poll. The Pioneers had a pair of close contests, as the No. 1 tandem of Brantlie Price and Katherine James fell 21-17, 21-10, while the No. 4 pair of Bailey Beck and Brook Noe lost 21-12, 21-14.
In the matchup against No. 9 Loyola, the competition remained tight despite the Wolfpack securing another 5-0 win. The No. 1 duo of Price and James lost 21-15, 21-13, while the No. 2 pair of Hana Vucinic and Makinnley Smart battled in a narrow 21-11, 21-18 defeat. Another closely contested match came at No. 5, where Tristan Craine and Rylee Anderson fell 21-11, 21-16.
