#18 Richard Bland Falls to Spartanburg Methodist College 2-0

#18 Richard Bland Falls to Spartanburg Methodist College 2-0

Spartanburg Methodist College Men's Soccer team has struggled this season, trying to put together all the aspects of a complete game to get a victory. But in an exciting match against #18 ranked Richard Bland College in Petersburg, VA, the pioneers finally accomplished their goal. SMC managed to win 2-0 with goals from Joshua Barksdale, assisted by Davin Starkie, and Will Waters, assisted by Asael Stewart.

The contribution of Goalkeepers Kai Runyon and Tristan Rodgers was crucial in securing the win. Runyon, who made six saves in the game, had to leave the field following multiple collisions with RBC's attackers. Rodgers came on cold from the bench in the 73rd minute and immediately made an impact. He raced attackers to deny RBC a go-ahead goal with a goal-line, full-extension, fingertip save that energized the pioneers to dig in deep and rush forward chasing what would be a shocking goal.

This victory was even more remarkable considering the first meeting between the two teams, where SMC lost 3-1 at Nash field. However, the pioneers were determined to turn things around and put together a complete game. Their hard work and dedication paid off, and they were able to secure an impressive and much-needed victory over a tough opponent ranked #18 in the nation.

Overall, SMC's victory over Richard Bland College is a testament to the team's perseverance and determination. They showed that when they put all the aspects of a complete game together, they can beat some of the best teams in the nation. The pioneers will look to build on this victory and continue to work hard to finish the season strong.
