Spartanurg, SC – The SMC Softball team came ready to play for their weekend opener winning games 14-0 and 11-1 against Surry Community College. Game one started slow for the lady Pioneers as Surry held them to 0 in the first 2 innings until Jessica Stanley led us off to a seven run inning. Charlsy Traylor got her first win of the season only allowing 1 hit in 4 innings. Game two was a much different start as the Pioneers finally settled their nerves scoring five runs in just the first inning. Sophomore Charlsy Traylor, who didn't hit last year for SMC came into the game going 2-3 with a double. Madison Drawdy got her first win of the season.
The Pioneers will play again Saturday, February 9th in the Georgia Highlands Tournament in Cartersville, GA.
