Lady Pioneers Win Over SW Virginia

Lady Pioneers Win Over SW Virginia

The game that was started with Southwest Virginia CC on 9.12 was finished on 10.19 after being postponed because of lightening with 19:52 left in the first half. The Pioneers did not take long to find the first goal of the game. CJ Hawkins got on the board in the 10th minute after a great pass combination from Camila Moscoso and Krystal Martinez. 8 minutes later Moscoso doubled the score when she played a ball from Laura Giraldo to the back post past the keeper. Before the lightening delay, Hawkins scored her second goal in the 24th from Caitlin Lagos and Moscoso. The game was postponed at the 26th minute to be played on 10.19. The game resumed and SMC picked up where they left off. Camden Brooks would get on the goal sheet twice in the 39th and 43rd minute. Grace White, Moscoso, and Giraldo are credited with the assists. Gwen Orr did not record any saves in the first half. After a quick halftime, The Pioneers made a few changes to the lineup to get other players some playing time. Abby Fisher went in as goalkeeper and had 3 saves. Southwest Virginia got on the board in the 65th minute from a very good shot over Fisher's head. The Pioneers would close the door in the 72nd minute when Evelyn Garcia got her first collegiate goal off a header from a Hawkins cross. SMC gets some time off to rest and get ready for the Region Championship game on 10.28 at 3:00pm. They finish the season at 9-3-2 and 5-0-1 in the region.
