SMC Women's Soccer 2019-20 Season Preview
The Lady Pioneers Soccer Team is looking forward to another season. The team hopes to compete for a Region X Title. The preseason ranking of the United Soccer Coaches Poll has the Lady Pioneers at 20th in the country. With a strong returning sophomore class that includes several All-Region players from 2018.
Kassandra Young and Heather Turner return as All-Region Midfielders, Kolbi Crone returns as an All-Region Defender and Meredith Mitchiner returns as an All-Region Goalkeeper. Other sophomores returning that started some games last season are Mackenzie Ramsey (defender), Kajsa Mertens (defender), Dani Morris (midfielder) and Isabella Dyckes (Goalkeeper). Other sophomores who should make an impact are Ryley Karr (defender), Zoe Worth (defender), Nathalie Stark (forward) and Leslie Lagos (Forward).
The freshman class is very strong coming in with forwards Campbell Gibson, Beyoncé Williams, Amiyah Robinson, Madison Stewart and Anna Grace Cooper. Freshman coming in the midfield are Abigail Gibson Angelica Gonzalez, Caitlyn Moore, and Jamilet Orozco. Freshman defenders include Brianna Estridge, and Lexi Austin and goalkeeper Zoie Morrow.
The Lady Pioneers have their first home game of the 2019-20 season August 15th against Cesa-Spartanburg at 6:00 pm.
