The Lady Neer’s started the afternoon off with solid performances across the board. Leading the way was Mikayla Wilson running a season-best, 24:49. “Mikayla has consistently been our #1 runner this and last year. She continues to have success with each race. Really looking forward to see her time drop.” Shortly after was newcomer Alondra Velazquez, 25:27. “Alondra ran her personal best which is great to see early on freshman year. Excited to see where she ends up in championship season!”

Rounding out the Pioneers were Tiera Parson and Hali Gardner. “It was great to see them have a mentally sound racing experience. Both of them are racing smart and staying with in their limits.”
The men followed the women’s race with a successful day of their own, finishing with a faster team time than rival Louisburg. The top guy for the Pioneers was, again, Zander Allen. “Zander continues to be our #1 guy. He still has a lot to learn but is starting to find his own racing style. Should be an exciting freshman year for him.” Closely behind were Trey Armstrong, 31:21, and Marc Mixtega, 31:45.
Finishing out the men’s top 5 were Andrew Riggs and Trey Tynes. “Both athletes are developing nicely and looking to compete for a top 5 spot all season!”
“Overall, I am excited to see where our team ends up at the end of championship season. We have experienced a lot of growth thus far and look to continue building momentum as the season progresses.”
Then Pioneers look forward to a half marathon this Saturday in Asheville, NC.
