Lady Pioneers defeat CCC & TI 84-76

SPARTANBURG, SC- The Lady Pioneer basketball team fell behind 7-0 to visiting Caldwell Community College early in the first half but they quickly rebounded and took a 48-39 halftime lead.

SMC charged out of the locker room and built a 63-48 lead with fourteen minutes to play in the half and looked to be on their way to a blow out. A 10-2 run by the Cobras late in the half cut the Pioneer lead down to four. SMC tightened up on the defensive end and used a 8-2 run of their own to close out the 84-76 win.

Freshman Heather Chapman (Summervile, SC) and Briana Hill (Columbia, SC) led the Pioneers with 15 points a piece. Twelve Lady Pioneers scored in the contest. SMC was 10-18 from the charity stripe.

SMC will travel to Louisburg College on Saturday the 8th to face the Hurricanes before returning to action November 13th at home against Truett McConnell.
