Pioneers continue dream season. 32-0

Pioneers continue dream season. 32-0

What a season, but their is still work to do.

All coaches have short term goals for their players and teams. Region X Coach of the year Jeff Brookman is no different. His probably went something like this..

1- Have a healthy and successful pre-season.

2- Win all the games you are supposed to win and gel as a team in the early part of the season.

3- Win the regular season title and get the automatic bid to the NJCAA National Tourney

4- Get to the Region X tourney and have a chance to win that

5- Stay healthy as a team

6- Play your best basketball at the Nationals.

The Pioneers, led by Defensive player of the year and 1st team All-Region player Jalen Nesbitt, 1st team member Ronell Crockett, and 2nd team member Travis Black, the Pioneers look to take their overall #2 seed in the NJCAA Tourney(Not sure why they are not the #1 seed) and continue their great play in hopes of a National title.

The Pioneers are not only led by the three listed above but also by the steady play of DJ Coleman, the sharp shooting of Ben Johnson, the clutch take over play by Kelsey Terry, the work under the boards and solid screen setting by DaQuan Jeffries, and the loud vocal leadership of Cory Rush. All of these young men have been special to watch this year and I'm still leaving out very valuable members of the squad.

Everything seems to have ran just perfect for the Pioneers, but some don't understand the pressure of coaching and playing as a collegiate team. Add in a undefeated season, losing a member of your starting group midway through the season, dealing with injuries, and not to mention the pressure of being ranked for the better part of a season.

Coach Brookman and staff have led this great group of young men and special athletes day in and out this season. Every practice, every drill, every team meeting has been close to perfect. That comes from dedication and buying into a program! The guys deserve all the credit as any coach would say but Jeff Brookman needs every bit of the spotlight too.

The Brookman led Neers are on a mission and looking to take over Hutchinson, Kansas next week, whether they win a game or the National Championship, this special  group will leave their mark on and off the court next week just as they have all year in Spartanburg, SC.

Good luck guys!
