Pioneers Notch Win Streak Continues

Pioneers Notch Win Streak Continues

SMC Pioneers traveled to Denmark Technical College on Tuesday, September 20th to take on last place Denmark Technical College.

In the first half both sides saw goals with the first goal coming in the 20th minute off a shot from Vashone Aceves 30 yards out right over the top of DTC goalkeeper to go up 1-0. Just a few minutes later DTC answered off a breakaway goal to tie it 1-1. The first half saw an onslaught of shots from both sides with 8-7 in favor of SMC.

The second half was a hard fought battle with both teams not able to find the back of the net until the 79th minute a corner kick by SMC’s Layton Cave found Patrick Callahan for the game winning goal to put SMC up 2-1. SMC saw another goal netted by James Sharpe in the 89th minute to finish off the game at 3-1.

SMC moves to 3-2 in Region 10 play and 5-2 overall while Denmark Technical College moves to 0-8-0 in Region 10 play and 0-8-0 overall. SMC will look to take back a win against Richard Bland College after losing to them 2-0 at RBC earlier this year. Game time is 2pm at Nash Field.
