3 Game Win Streak Gives Pioneers 2nd Region Win

On a 2-game win streak SMC game out against USC Salkehatchie 3-2 overall and 1-2 in Region 10 play.

The first half saw nearly 20 shots from both sides with neither team able to get on the scoreboard. Patrick Callahan had a great chance in the 20th minute when he received a through ball from Victor Capitillo, but unfortunately, it hit off the inside of the far post and into the goalkeepers’ hands. Shortly after an indirect free kick was called against SMC on the Goal Area. After a great block by the defenders and a follow-up save by Cesar Ventura-Villegas.

In the second half SMC came out strong scoring just 2 minutes into the second half off a Charles Muyimbwa goal and an assist by Victor Capitillo. In the 70th minute, USC Salkehatchie scored the equalizer off a one-on-one challenge with the goalkeeper. The shots kept flying for the next 15 minutes when Charles Muyimbwa capitalized on a mistake made by USC Salkehatchie’s defense netting his second goal of the game. Just 4 minutes later Charles Muyimbwa netted a hat trick off Victor Capitillo assist.

SMC moves into 4th place in the region and has an overall record of 4-2-0 (2-2-0). SMC is back in action Tuesday, September 20th at 1 pm when they take on Denmark Technical College in Denmark, SC for another Region 10 game.
