Lady Pioneers Take Down GMC for Season Opener

Lady Pioneers Take Down GMC for Season Opener

The lady Pioneers soccer team traveled to Milledgeville, GA to take on the Bulldogs from Georgia Military College. The match kicked off 45 minutes late because of bad weather in the area. The first half was a bit of back and forth for both teams feeling out the soggy pitch and the first game of the season. Dare Regan and Beyonce Williams had a couple of good chances each in the first half. Gwen Orr started in goal and had 4 saves before halftime. Both teams regrouped at the half and were determined to get on the scoreboard first. The Pioneers found the net first in 72nd minute when Harleigh Payne played a great ball across the box to Beyonce Williams. SMC doubled the score six minutes later when Reagan Lowe cleaned up a rebound from a Williams shot. Abby Fisher relieved Gwen in goal with 10 minutes left and had 2 saves. Gwen finished her night with 7 saves. The Pioneers are 1-0-0 on the season and will travel to Southern Weslyn University on 8.24 for their last scrimmage of the season. The home opener is 8.27 at 3:00pm against Oxford Emory.
