SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College women's soccer extended its winning streak to six with a 1-0 shutout of Bob Jones University on Friday afternoon.
The Pioneers (6-1) raised its record to 4-0 at the friendly confines of Nash Soccer Field when Kaylee Damsen scored her fifth goal of the season – third of the week – in the early moments of the second half. Johana Martinez led the attack with three shots.
The Bruins (3-3) managed to record 10 shots – seven on goal – in the loss. Celeste Baladi had seven shots – two of which on goal in the loss.
"The heart that this team has makes coaching so much fun," said an excited SMC head coach Kyle Campbell after the win.
SMC goalkeeper Ava Wilson recorded her fourth shutout of the season, making seven saves in the contest. The path to the shutout forced Wilson to make a pair of saves on her way to the clean sheet.
Next, Spartanburg Methodist College will travel to the Sunshine State for matchups against Florida College (Thursday, Sept. 19) and Florida National (Friday, Sept. 20) at noon in suburban Miami.
