ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Spartanburg Methodist College men's cross country team resumed its 2024 season at the 2024 Adidas/Winthrop Cross Country Invitational on Friday.
Caleb Williams shattered his 8k PR by :43 as the first Pioneer across the finish line in 29:42.6 en route to a 17th-place finish. Preston Gantt of Queens cruised to an 18-second victory, crossing the 26:25.7. Queens had five of the first six runners across the finish line for the team title as SMC took fourth.
23 seconds separated the second through fourth runners for the Pioneers with Ryan Hunter finishing 20th in 30:28.8, followed by Dylan Seppala (21st, 30:33.5) and Gabriel Toney (22nd, 30:51.9). Luke Kochanowicz was the fifth runner for SMC with a time of 31.23.4 for 25th place. He was followed by Omarion Ocampo-Rios (26th, 31:25.6), Steven Strange (27th, 31:31.5) and Marc Mixtega (31st, 32:13.6).
