Waleska, Ga. – The Spartanburg Methodist College dropped a pair of matches to Johnson (25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18) and Reinhart (25-11, 25-16, 25-22) on Saturday. The two losses drops the Pioneers record to 14-15 on the 2024 season.
The day began with the four-set loss to Johnson as the Pioneers posted a .081 hitting percentage. Makinnley Smart and Kendall Meinders led the efforts with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Aurora Aho added seven kills and a team-best 17 digs.
The Royals of Johnson were paced by the play of Kaitlyn Wilkerson and Kiersten Bell, who had 14 and 13 kills, respectively. The duo accounted for 27 of the 46 kills in the win. Teammate Luci Morris added six kills and five blocks to the winning efforts.
In the loss to Reinhardt, Brantlie Price paced the attack with six kills, two block assists and 16 digs for SMC.
Reinhardt was led by Juliette Baffico and Jenna Smith, who had 13 and 10 kills, respectively. The Eagles managed to hit at a .190 clip and served up six service aces in the win.
Next, SMC will host Bob Jones University on Wednesday, October 23 at 6:30 p.m. On September 3, the Pioneers defeated the Bruins in four in Greenville.
