Baseball Splits Doubleheader Against CIU
Game 1
The Pioneers showed up with no energy and played their worst game of the year in dropping Game 1 vs Columbia International (JV) 6-5. Baserunning miscues offensively and lack of command on the mound put the Pioneers in a hole they could not dig out of.
Dariyan Pendergrass was 3-4 with 1 rbi and 2 stolen bases.
Game 2
SMC scored early and often to bury CIU in Game 2. The Pioneers scored 26 runs on 18 hits while the pitching trio of Davis Wright, Nate Calloway and Larson Scholtz threw a combined No-hitter in the shortened 5 inning game.
Ryan Williamson was 5-5 with 6 rbi’s while Brady Jeffcoat added a 3-3 effort while driving in 2. Rhogue Wallace hit his 6th HR and drove in 4.
